About us...

Paul Martyn Furniture is custom-made and has a country-style charm which looks as though it has been cared for down the generations.

Indeed every piece produced at the company’s workshops is solid enough to stand the test of time and destined to become an antique of the future.

Entering the showroom complex is like wandering into someone's well-loved home. The honey-coloured furniture blends with the mellow brick walls and the atmosphere is enhanced by the traditional aroma of a hand-waxed wood.

Paul Martyn Furniture have five individual showrooms in the converted building at the Heart of the Country craft centre at Swinfen, a pleasant afternoon's run on the A38 between Sutton Coldfield and Lichfield. The country pine furniture business celebrates its tenth anniversary next year.

After a decade building their reputation, staff at the company have a clear vision of what they want. They are not just selling furniture to make living. They want to establish a name and image which is as solid as the furniture they create.

As part of this on-going drive for customer satisfaction, the furniture is now 'branded'. Distinctive solid brass plaques carrying the 'Paul Martyn' seal are displayed on each item, as part of their commitment to showing pride in the job.

One of the hallmarks of their service is that nothing is too much trouble.

The staff are helpful without being obtrusive, and can advise on style and sizes and are knowledgeable about the general upkeep and care of furniture, with waxes, polishes and renovation materials available from the showroom.

Customers are always welcome to browse round the five showrooms, each being laid out with many styles of country furniture, including dining tables and chairs, bookcases, dressers, fireside chairs, traditional shelving units, washstands and fireplaces. It would be impossible for the showrooms to display everything on offer, so catalogues are provided for even greater inspiration. There is also a ‘bespoke’ element to the furniture. Paul Martyn Furniture are more than happy to adapt a piece to fit a certain sized room or a certain colour, or to complement an existing piece of furniture. Original items can also be commissioned.

In addition to the room sets which are laid out in the showrooms, customers will also find a huge selection of decorative items, from lamps and candlesticks, to china and pictures, all with that relaxed 'country' look, which helps turn a house into a home. Great attention is paid to the finishing of each item of furniture.

Polishing is a traditional technique, but like every craft, it is always being improved, and staff at Paul Martyn are proud of their expert and up-to-date finishing skills.

Using the finest products, they can produce country furniture of almost every hue - including oak and mahogany coloured, which is particularly useful when it comes combining a new piece of furniture with an existing colour scheme.

This attention to detail has ensured Paul Martyn Furniture. a firm following, with customers travelling all over the country to enjoy their distinctive country look: "Individual furniture for individual people."
